Okay, I'm back again--this is the same '93 900T HB that I mentioned a few days ago. A refresher: 106k, 5spd, no rust, excellent shape.
Well, thanks to the beauty of Saabnet, I found someone to go look at the car for me, since I'm in Maine and the car's in Chicago. The report that I got was that the car was in excellent shape, no rust, drove great, generally one of the best that I'll find for the vintage/mileage/money (of ~$5000). Thanks to Geoff for the help! I can't say how much appreciate it.
So, needless to say, I'm very interested in the car. However, my father is less interested in it, mostly because its in Chicago and we're not. I agree that driving the car is better than not, but I trust the knowledge and observancy skills of Geoff and would of any Saabnetter, so when he says that it's probably a great car as best he can tell, I believe him. We'll see what my father thinks.
I need some points to make to convince my father to buy the car. You see, I already have an 89 900S with 141k and some rust on the fender--I have to justify purchasing this 900T and then subsequently trying to sell my 89. I'm going to be entering college this fall and as I see it, if I have the money to get the car now and I've found one that I want, I ought to get it. Once I'm in college, I'll be strapped for cash and once I'm out, I don't know how easy it will be to find such a car in such good shape with so few miles!
So, help me! I need some ideas for my argument! Any ideas on how much I could sell my 89 for? It's also a hatchback, also a 5spd, has had > $5000 put into it in the past three years (and is thus top-notch mechanically), has a $1200 stereo and sub, and drives great. I know that it's a perfectly good car... but I want the turbo. I'm sure you know how I feel.
If I'm going to get the car, I want to move on it soon! Am I out of my mind? Should I just keep the 89 and be happy?
Thanks in advance!
Tim B.
