Its almost that bad. Actually, I sometimes put a vice-grips on the axle so that I can push the hub outwards while opening the clip (but I somehow picked up the proper tool. big help!) I have one that the clip got broken or out of shape and I CANNOT get it apart, even off the car! Otherwise its not too bad a job. I think that new clips come with the CV boot kits. Now I know why!
