Hi JohnB - Thanks for responding. I've taken apart many front seats, and the difference is that one has access to those seat frame crosswires. The back seat construction is such that the plywood does not allow access to those connection locations. Essentially, one end of the strings is attached to the gunney wires, while the other end is hooked on an approx. 1-inch diameter disk with a small hook, that is somehow attached to the seat side of the plywood (nothing protrudes from the accessible side). I suppose one could drill holes in the plywood adjacent to the disks (provided one could determine where they were), in order to try to rehook the strings. It just seems too difficult and that somehow there must have been a way to do this when the seat was first made.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Charles
