I would strongly recommend you stay away from SAAB. Honda owners are usually bitten by a misterious bug that makes them dislike any other make. I will bet anything that, after owning Honda(s), you will really hate a SAAB.
Maintenance costs on my SAABs have been very minimal. Knock on wood!!! Usual maintenance applies, such as oil/filter changes, brake fluid flushes, antifreeze flushes, etc. The difference from Honda is that everything is infinitely easier to do because SAABs are designed to be serviced by normal people. Almost everything is ten times easier to get to than on a Honda (especially Accord and Odyssey.) Electric components are slightly less durable, drivetrain slightly more durable. It's really a wash.
What SAABs really suffer from, especially compared to Hondas, is neglect and incorrect service. A Honda will last quite a while without proper maintenance (7-8 years, no problem), while a SAAB will die within 2-3 years if you don't do *everything* by the book. With proper maintenance both Honda and SAAB will last practically forever. Especially in areas with mild climate and no salt on roads.
