My car only goes above 1/2 when I go over 3000 rmp for a longgggggggg length of time. First replace the thermostat with an 82 degree model. Then watch the engine and the fan should come on around half way. If it doesn't then you may need to replace the thermostatic switch located on the drivers side of the radiator near the top. If the fan comes on and the temperature still increases over 2/3 turn on the A/C. The second fan should now come on. They should run around the same RPM. If the engine drops below 1/2 with both fans running then problem is either the engine cooling fan not having enough RPMs(bad fan) or the radiator. If the fan appears to run correctly I would replace the radiator. 200 bucks and only an hour's worth of work.
