Hi.. Some of you may have seen the message regarding the uneven ride height of my saab. If not, here is the info below, and some of the suggestions that followed. This post includes a link to 5 pics of the car... so please check those out (total 250kB). Once again I thank the experts sincerely for their thoughts and opinions.
Concerning the weight of the auto tranny vs. the manual, I have to agree that it is insufficient (delta of 50lb) to cause a 2.5" difference in ride height. I also doubt that it is an optical illusion or that the axle is bent... My best guess is either that the front shocks are over charged to accomodate and auto. tranny OR that the rear springs have just worn out and the front rides perfectly normal. The evidence proving that it is not the rear portion of the car is that the front tires are extremely worn to the outside, whereas the tread in the center of the front tires is fine. I suppose an alignment is needed sooner or later and that is about all I can fathom at this point.
Thanks!
Robert C

I have a '91 3-dr Turbo that we restored in house from a bad automatic transmission a couple months ago...My father and I worked on it to convert it to a manual from an older 86 parted out car. Well, for some reason, the car just never looked quite right. I finally realized that the car sat about 2.5" higher in the front than in the back ( I measured the difference in the wheel clearance ) My father has been working on 900's for about 20 years, and he is baffled by this anomaly. We noted that the springs were seated properly, and also that there was an unusual gap in the shock (another indicator that the suspension extends too much). The tires are soon to be replaced, and inspecting the tire wear reveals that most of the wear is to the outer edge, as if the tires were sitting like this: \<car>/ . I dont know what to do. I do not recall if the car sat like this before the rebuild, and everything in the swing arm is bolted and installed correctly. Like I said, my father has done this dozens of times, with no similar problems. If anyone else has encountered this or if I am just dillusional and this is normal (which I doubt, since we also currently have a 89 4-dr Turbo that sits perfectly even) and of the 17 saabs we've had in the past 16 years we've never seen this before.
Help of any sort would greatly be appreciated..Thank you in advance... Sincerly, Robert C... ATL, GA
