that buzzing noise was your fuel pump working. Check for it now. If you can hear the buzz, then the pump is ok. If its silent, either the pump is gone or the fuel pump relay is gone. Get another relay as they are only $30 from the dealer and you should have a spare anyway, or follow the Bentley manual test to jump the appropriate pins to mimic the relay and see if the pump runs. Relay is in the plastic box next to the power steering resevoir on the passener side under the hhod. My 92 900S died in similar fashion, just shifted into 5th and was on the highway when suddenly no revs. Would crank but not start. Good luck.
