PLEASE HELP, OIL LEAK! Posted by Ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Today, after going for a short drive, and parking, i found a large puddle, probably about 5" in diamater beneath my car, an oil of some type. After checking the vital fluids, the brake fluid seemed alright, oil was fairly good, but the tranny was bone dry. i was able to put more than 2 liters into it (and it only has a 3 liter capacity!) Any ideas what is wrong? I'm going to have it towed to the mechanic tomorrow, but want some ideas of what i'm going into here. Did they miss or poorly place a seal or gasket in the transmission rebuild? Could a poorly done gasket be alright for 6 months then suddenly go bad? Could they have accidentally done something while replacing the slave cyclender?
A little car background. This summer, late aug. my 5 spd tranny was rebuilt. two weeks ago, i had a new slave cylender installed. The past week, i've been noticing a burning smell from the front of the car, and the clutch engagement point seemed a little different than it was before i had the slave cyclender replaced (possibly because of the diminishing amount of gear oil in the transmission?)
Please help, i need to know whether this is something that just happens (to new parts) or something that was not done right on their part.
Thanks
Ryan
