right now (I assume that you understand that the "T" in 300TD means "Touring" -- German designation for station wagon; there were turbo 300TDs built after 1981 or so, and non-turbo before that, but the station wagons with diesel motors from that era are all "300TD," regardless). I just acquired an '85 300TD turbo from a good friend's estate sale -- only 312,000 miles on it, and it runs beautifully. On the road, in a lot of ways it reminds me of my old '66 Maserati Quattroporte (the harder you drive, the sportier it feels, but lower speeds and saner styles are dull), except for only having 40% the power -- handling is competent amd balanced, but rear drivish, but the empty weight is only 3850 (52-48 distribution), so they aren't that outrageously heavy, as some believe; they respond very well to high performance tires, and some careful deviation from factory recommended tire pressures can make them quite BMWish.

The '90 900S is my daughter's, and I do hope she hands it over to me in a few years when I retire, so that I can go out of the house and choose between exactly those two cars for any particular day's driving, although my older son's '91 BMW 318i could replace either one of them, but not both at once.
