Coolant sensor in upper radiator hose interlocks the compressor, too.
To summarize the other suggestions, any one of these could prevent compressor from running...
Anti-icing sensor in evaporator housing (air inlet in the hood). This turns AC off if below 28(?) degrees F.
Low-pressure switch in the receiver/dryer. This one lives in the RH fender, between the headlight and the windshield washer bottle. It turns off the AC when there's not enough refrigerant in the system.
High-temperature switch in the middle of the upper radiator hose. This turns off the AC when the coolant is too hot.
I'd check the switch (they can break, too), fuse & relay, then check the clutch like Loo Y said, then check all these sensors one by one, but it may also be somewhere in the wiring between all those...
