bad Hall effect connector on the side of the distributor or a bad front mount.
"Why the mount?", you ask.
If it lets the engine rise enough under severe acceleration, the front of the engine can rise enough that the distributor cap touches the underhood insulation and momentarily moves it enough that the carbon connector in the cap doesn't touch the rotor.
I'd bet that it's the Hall effect connector on the distributor. Same thing happened with my '88 SPG. A couple of zip ties and it never happened again.
