Pilot bearing position in flywheel question>>

Helping a friend with his clutch. Pilot bearing had seized and had walked a bit out of the flywheel. The face had been rounded out by the clutch shaft, so I can't use it's position in the flywheel to match with the new bearing...
Should the bearing be flush with the face of the flywheel (clutch side) or recessed a bit to be centered in the flywheel?
As a side question, the flywheel bolts were held in with red loctite with no leakage. Townsend says use the 518, which is not carried in ANY auto parts stores...only the common Pemtex stuff. Only place that carries the 518 is a specialty fastener store, which is a pain in the ass to get to.
Thanks,
burlyb
