A-arm bushings definitely. Motor mounts: look at 'em real hard. If they look even slightly unhappy, replace them. If you have any suspicions about the steering rack, now's a great time to replace it, too.
Re: rebuilding the transmission, I've done about 6 of them myself. It's not that hard - there are only 2 really tricky parts. First is dealing with the pinion shaft - you need to find a way to hold it while removing & reinstalling the nut where the bearings are. 2 problems: first, you must absolutely not damage the shaft in any way, and second, the nut requires about 117,402,658 foot-lbs of torque ;^) If you can get your hands on a couple of old synchro hubs you're golden: flatten the sides of the hubs so you can clamp them in a vise, then use them to hold the shaft.
Other tricky part is measuring the "stack height" - it's about 8 inches and needs to be set within a couple thousandths of an inch. I had a machinist friend of mine make me a "measuring rod" out of stainless steel that was exactly the correct length.
If you have a junk transmission that you can take things like synchro hubs and shims out of, it helps a lot.
My advice: get the book first (the real Saab one, about $20 at the dealer) and read it thoroughly. Then decide if you're up to the task.
