That's one of the saddest sounds a SAAB can make... Posted by IrieTom [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: NOW im in trouble!, SUDSAAB, Wed, 13 Mar 2002 10:23:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
And I've heard it all too often lately. Last week, mine lost a tooth in 3rd AGAIN!!! just 10k miles after rebuilding the tranny for the SAME PROBLEM, which manifested itself within 15k of the previous rebuild (for the SAME THING).
I am absolutely positive that the transmission has not been abused, and the entire clutch (hydraulic line, slave, throwout bearing, and pressure plate) was replaced during the tranny rebuild.
The only transmission problems I've ever had in other 900's were worn-out pinion bearings. What's going on here? I recall a recent post here mentioning stack height. How would this affect teeth getting knocked out of permenantly meshed gears?
Should I get a new transmission instead of rebuilding this tremendously unlucky gearbox, or start looking for another mechanic? I trust my mechanic -a SAAB master mechanic- but haven't had the heart to discuss this most recent recurrence with him yet.
Transmission experts- please chime in. I'm looking for opinions.
An SPG without 3rd gear is like an electric guitar without amplification.
I'm heartbroken, and soon to be broke, as well.
