Hi Michael...I also own a 94T-conv.
The straps in the trunk hook onto the cover for the three-peice boot that covers your top when it's down. Did you get the boot with your car? You should have but alot of times those things get stuck somewhere in the previous owners garage. Anyway, the peices fit into this cover and it has loops on it that hook to those straps to keep it from sliding around when its in the trunk. The boot is a real pain to get on properly but it does a good job at protecting the top from wind and sun when down.
Alarm....have you turned on the lock switch that is at the back of the center console. This should make the car lock when it is auto mode.
