When you tackle a project, it pays to do the other things along the way. This job could have been done while doing the HB. I hope you did your water pump replacement at that time. If not, you should be getting real good at getting at the front (actually back, but that's another issue)end of your engine.
Replace all three bushings (two on the alt, one more on the tension arm) and definitly pull the voltage reg while you're at it.
My guess is you replaced belts when you did the HB, and a combination of the new bels and extra tension probably finished off the bushings.
