There are two snap rings and you can only see one of them unless you press the hub out of the bearing. Unfortunately, this will destroy the bearing. Since you already have the spindle out of the car, I would have a new bearing pressed in with some loctite smeared around the bearing to lock it in the hub. When the new bearing is pressed snug against the outer snap ring, you will be able to see if there is any room for a shim between the bearing and the inner snap ring. After changing 8 bearings on 3 900's I have never seen enough room to fit a shim, but have always used some loctite on the bearing. No popping except once when I forgot to put in a snap ring on reassembly. Popped like crazy and I got to do the job over again!
