Fluid issues, advice needed Posted by Ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I was on my way home tonight, and stopped by the gas station. I checked my fluids and am having some concerns. The last few days, my fluids seem to be up and down....but of greatest concern is my tranny gear oil. I just had the tranny rebuilt last aug. so i want this thing to run smooth for a while. In the end of Jan. my clutch slave cyclender blew, and i had it replaced. About 2 weeks later, i was back at the shop because it seemed i had blown the clutch shaft seal, and leaked fluid for potentially up to a week. (the last time i had checked the fluid level). Turns out that this was not replaced at the time of the slave cyclender. So i was quite worried about my tranny, that i might have been driving it dry for a while, and as such have been checking the fluid almost daily. When i got the car back from having the clutch shaft seal replaced, the tranny gear oil was 3/4 up to the max on the tranny dip stick. It has been going down slowly, especially in the last week or two. Tonight, it was just a hair above the minimum...and i've driven 1600km since then, (1000mi). Is this normal consumption? or might i have a problem on my hands again? I sure hope not, since i'm getting a little fed up with worrying about the transmission and it's fluid.
Any advice appreciated
Ryan
