DIY Painting: Wheel Center Caps and Grill Done

If you want to re-do your wheel center caps, OEM 172 from http://www.match-it.net is a dead ringer for the 24spoke "manhole cover" era. Used their clear gloss lacquer on top. Did same to grill and headlight surrounds; the OEM color here is a shade darker grey and has larger metallic flakes than the 172 if you're *real* picky, but it looks great to me. Disassembling the grill components makes painting a breeze, no masking. Oh, except parking light reflectors may be flaking badly so do that separately (chrome paint does a fair, not great, job but I guess the lights are just for show so who cares).
My steps: Degrease well (used Scotchbrite pad and toothbrush; first w Dawn then w POR15 Marine Clean or other strong degreaser). Sand w 320 grit, prime, 320 again, color, 400 grit, color, clear lacquer. Let dry a week to harden up (still cold, wet wx here).
