I am also having problems with my a/c. I took the system apart this weekend and found a leak in the schrader valve (in the compressor). I replaced the valve and recharged the system. The a/c still didn't blow cold. I found out that the expansion valve was clogged. I have since seen numerous reports that this is a common problem. When I took the expansion valve off I found it does not have a screen. I unclogged the valve and the a/c started to blow cold. I am still going to replace the valve ($20.00) and also the drier ($25.00). I am also going to change the system to R134a, not much more expense. If you don't have the proper tools I would not recommend taking the system apart, but this might help when you talk to a mechanic.
