I don't think you have anything to worry about, especially since the idle is stable (celebrate!) and that it isn't too high or low. I checked my SAAB's dash tachometer with an underhood type, and when the SAAB tach needle points at the base of the "1", then that's about 900 RPMs. You're fine there, no worries.

You didn't tell us what year & model your SAAB is, but I'm guessing it's got one of the LH (2.2 or 2.4) fuel injection systems. These have a valve (AIC--Automatic Idle Control or Compensation, I don't know words behind the acronym well)to automatically compensate for engine loads at idle (i.e. like putting an auto tranny in gear at a standstill and/or A/C running while car is idling).

My mom's '90 900 has the LH 2.4 16V engine and it idles right below the "1" on the tach. It is a manual tranny, though, but it will even compensate idle if you have the car sitting still, put it in first gear, and s-l-o-w-l-y let out the clutch pedal--while giving it no gas. It won't even stall! It just bumps up the "idle" to take care of it, as long as you don't touch the gas pedal (which cuts off a contact switch for idle compensation).
