Interesting someone would think the fan will run all the time...reason being the water inlet into the radiator is being controlled to 82C by the t-stat...then there is a temperature drop across the radiator (hopefully) and you end up with some temperature on the outlet less than 82C. Should you get into traffic and the outlet temp increases you would want the temp switch to kick in without too wide of temperature swings on the alum head.
Thus I would think you want them matched to the same temperature. Else the head would tend to expand/contract more as you went from city to highway driving...head gasket problems???
