I'm a little surly tonight...sorry.
Oil gets INSIDE the dist. cap by travelling through the distributor shaft. Inside the dist. is a sling - in some it's a string, and others it's a groove oriented opposite the direction of the distributor moving direction. Turbo's seem to push oil through the dist. due to high(er) crankcase pressures. A healthy pcv valve is supposed to relive this but inevitably oil is pushed through. It's normal to have some oil in the distributor. I consider mine to leak a lot, but my mech. says its normal. The contacts on the dist. cap are raised from the perimeter of the cap so they aren't fouled by the oil. There's little you can do about this leak.
The other distributor leak is the one Don describes. It's at the base where the dist. mounts to the engine. The o-ring on the outside of the distributor dries out and allows oil to seep down the block.
