in a small 2-inch or so circle, just above the defroster/speaker grille. It left a translucent, whitish residue on the inside of the windshield.
That went on for a few weeks, then the valve deteriorated to the point that it started leaking on the driver's side floor and pedals. The heater control knob was rather stiff to turn during that time, but not as bad as my Mom's 1990 900 did (which now has a new heater valve).
A good heater valve should offer no resistance in turning back and forth from hot to cold. Is yours stiff? If so, then it's just a matter of time until you get antifreeze on your feet!
