When this car is started, the engine idles at approximately 1600 rpm and remains at that speed. When the cable is removed from the AIC unit, the revs drop to 1000 rpm and on replacement of the cable , the idle remains at 1000 or drops slightly but will not run at 850 rpm which is the specification. I changed over the AIC unit with my 93 900i and it ran fine in the 93 car and made no difference to the first vehicle.

I can not identify any vacuum leaks. There is no manually adjusted air bypass around the throttle body unit to set idle speed as in the earlier units fitted with CIS ignition..

Have also checked the operation of the Throttle Control Unit. It appears fine with steadily increasing/ decreasing resistance depending on terminals from fully closed to fully open throttle.

Leaving aside this issue the engine runs just fine. Any suggestions, thanks in advance.
