Check the TPS; with the engine off you should hear a "click" just as the throttle closes completely. You shouldn't have to force the throttle closed to hear it. This "switches on" the AIC system. If you hear it, then warm up the engine & wiggle the wires to see if they are flaky.
Now that you have a Bentley manual, check the physical throttle stop. With the bad distributor cap, somebody may have used this to get it to run at idle. Now with the new cap, the idle's too high even with the AIC valve all the way closed.
Temperature sensor (NTC sensor). It's located in the head, between the #2 & #3 runners of the intake manifold. I guess sometimes it fails in a way which tells the ECU that the engine's cold even when its hot. That might explain a STEADY high idle. Your new Bentley manual should have resistance values for various temperature.
Grounds on crossmember below radiator, near battery. I had dirty/flaky connections there, I think it maybe caused the ignition to give the AIC a screwey tachometer signal. Mine wasn't a steady, high idle, though.
