Well, i'm still ironing out the plans for mine.... Posted by Ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Stereo system planning, AP, Tue, 21 May 2002 16:59:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
but what i have so far is the clarion ARX6670 Proaudio deck (cassette for those times i rely on my old tape collection, or those books on tape for a looooonnnnggg trip), clarion CDC655Tz 6 cd changer, and all of this is going to the clarion DVS9755z dolby 5.1 processor. After talking on this board and fairly extensively with GM, i've come to the placement of the speakers in the lower kick pannels (i'll probably run 6.5" or 5.25" components here), and a center channel in the lower consol just below the lower DIN slot. In the rear, i'm staying away from the 6x9 or 4x10 and making a mounting plate to fit a 5.25" in the rear instead, since i was able to find many speakers in that size that i actually liked, but nothing in a 4x10 and very few in a 6x9 which weren't really my preferences. In the trunk i'm going to have a 10" sub, and will try to run most of this from a 6 or 8 channel ads amplifier. I'm still trying to settle my mind on the speaker brands and amplifier.
I think GM is right, most companies CD changers only work with thier decks, and if you've got a little time to play around with fiberglass or know someone who does, try out the kickpannels, they are supirior compared to the stock mounting according to many on the board. But keep in mind, balance will be the key to making everything sound nice, rather than those overly-bass systems you can hear from a kilometer away
