Battery Draining

I'm assuming I have a short or something somewhere, but my battery is draining enough not to start sometimes in a matter of hours. This has been going on for a couple weeks now. Almost every time I go to start the thing the battery is just low enough to not turn it over. About two weeks ago when this first started I got a new battery because my old one was just on the border of losing it.
Well, that doesn't seem to have helped at all. It appeared to be a solution for a couple days, but then it's still dying after a few hours or over night and it even seems to be getting worse. What are the usual suspects for this?
One of my friends had a similar problem to this a couple years ago. He had just about everything electrical replaced under the hood and then they finally pulled his plug wires and cut them open and while they looked fine outside they were all rotted to shit inside. After he replaced them he had no more problems. This wasn't on a saab, but it was still the suspect. From looking at my wires with the eye and feeling around on them they don't see overly dry or cracked or anything. Any suggestions? I would normally just take it in, but right now I'm back to freelance work and waiting for clients to pay up and not exactly rich at the moment.. Any help is much appreciated.
