So, the f-ing saga continues. After eating dinner and relaxing for a bit I went out to work on my car again. It started right up surprisingly and I drove it to the roof to work on (I park in a structure). I read a post on here that you should leave the meter hooked up for a minute or so to get an accurate reading. I switched it to ma and waited. it was just over zero. All of a sudden (after about aminute) it went to zero. When I switched over to volts it was zero too where as before it was just under 4V. Hmmm. Again, car started up, but now I had no dash lights, the blinkers didn't work and my reverse lights didn't work. In addition my headlights were fading fast. I turned off the car and disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes and then tested. Still zero readings. I hooked the battery back up and this time it didn't turn over. I jumped it (with a portable starter) and it started. I started driving back down the ramp and it totally died and dimmed out. I'm hoping that it's the wire I replaced the bad alternator ground with. It is much thinner than the original. It's too dark now and I have to go to the hardware store for some wire. Since tomorrow is Memorial Day I'm sure I won't be able to find a local hardware store (within walking distance) that's open. Does this sound right or did I fry something unknowingly?
