what is immediately behind the glove box?

I have a cd-changer that almost fits in the glove box. A verticle bulge that sticks out on the left rear of the glove box is stopping it from fitting. Without taking off my dash, or knee pad, can anyone tell me if there is anything immediately behind the glove compartment?
Since my dashboard is already cracked, I thought I might cut some holes in the back of the glove compartment to make it fit - as well as drill holes to lead the cd-changer wire to the radio.
On a different note, my SPG quit running on the way up north last weekend. The battery went dead, but after getting the battery checked, I knew it was something with the alternator. Thanks to this bulletin board, I figured out the jackass who last changed my oil damaged the ground to my alternator. Five minute fix - and I thought I was going to have to r&r the alternator. Life is good!
Thanks in advance,
Berle
