I've had the car out on a cool night, and today is very cool too. The car warms up a bit, t-stat opens, and the gauge rises to just between 3/8 and 1/2 and stays. I have yet to see a fan come on due to heat.
I turned on the AC and both fans come on, so they do work. I'd like to see the 1 fan come on just to know the switch is doing its thing. I've sat in city traffic where the old rad let the temp to up the 3/4 and the new one won't let that happen. So the 82 degree tstat and the new rad must be doing a fine job. The new fan switch is an 82 degree wahler from Sobstory.
I'll have to cut the old radiator open. I'm curious to see what it looks like. Do I just hack saw the thing, or just remove the plastic?
It's been running green shit for ???? miles. I got the car with 58k and it "just had a major service". Yeah, I pulled out some nasty coolant, aging plugs, and dirty air filter... Tip top shape...
On the bright side, the previous owner was a lady in her 50's, maybe early 60's. It's not like I had a teenager racing the thing. The transmission is far better than my SPG.
