You are near College Park-right? Viking is near Rockville, specializes in repairing classic Saabs and won't do you wrong. Jay or Erik are the owners. Honest, fair and they love & drive classic Saabs. 301-253-9355.
Your drivability problem might be simple like a broken vacuum line, which you said, broke when you touched it. Rubber vacuum hose is readily available at any auto parts store and is an easy do it yourself fix.
A screeching alternator belt might be an overtightened belt. If you just had the crank pulley repaired, and they put on new belts, I'd return the car to the repair shop and have them retighten the (alternator) belts.
Wire harness on battery side. Might be the ground point (on the frame by the radiator drain pet) that has worked it self loose. Just tighten up bolt, make sure the negative battery lead is unhooked or you might shock yourself or ground out the system. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. With the help of the people on this board and a shop like Viking, you should have lots of enjoyable Saab miles ahead of you.
