Relatively easy.
The carpet in the front is one piece, so it's probably best to pull the whole thing. You could concievably cut the passenger side carpet under the console. I don't remember if the '86 900s has the center console with the compartments like later 900Ss and 900Ts do.
Remove the center console(s) [you'll need to remove the driver's seat to do this], remove the carpet retention strip in front of the door opening, remove the sill plate. On my '89, anyway, it doesn't go over the front seat rails so it should just pull out.
One electronic recommendation: when you get it to the place that's doing the welding, disconnect and remove the ECU on that passenger kickpanel before he begins work. Hopefully the welder will be cooperative about that. They are easily damaged by welding voltages and currents. (Turn the key off before you disconnect it.) Better to be safe than sorry with something like that. It also gets it out of the way of welding spatter.
