large helium refrigeration equipment (6 Megawatts of electric power) producing -454F cooling tempertures. Just have not been able to adapt the equipment to the SAAB cooling system yet....heh, heh.....
Yes, hot air rises.... but it wouldn't heat the upper radiator cooling channels as high as the temperture of the lower channel water....infared heat sensor measurement gun does a fine job at looking at the temperture distribution profiles on the various radiator locations. My own faulty radiator was running about 20 degrees F cooler on the top of the radiator outlet manifold than the bottom. The orientation of the manifolds and inlet/outlet nozzle locations should normally provide equal flow distribution through all horizontal channels. One can not explain a "cold" spot,as compared to the outlet nozzle location temperature, without considering the channels passaages at the radiator channel level are partially blocked. My fans were not coming on because the t-stat switch was not sensing the true outlet manifold nozzle temperature. These partially plugged channels also increase the differential pressure across the radiator a bit higher, forcing more of the inlet hot water to be diverted through the bottom passages. This tazes the the cooling capacity of the lower portion of the radiator...result...higher outlet temperatures with or without fans......
