tachometer signal? Posted by JimBlake [Email] (#141) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JimBlake) on Mon, 10 Jun 2002 10:05:51 In Reply to: Re: No Fuel Pressure HELP!, Rtjb, Sun, 9 Jun 2002 14:24:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think the ECU gets a tachometer signal from the ignition module, then it tells the relay to pull in. Did you first check to see if you're getting a good spark? Does the tachometer bounce around while you are trying to start? When the engine dies, does the tach instantly drop to zero or does it follow the engine speed down?
If you check LH 2.4 fault codes without starting the engine, normally your first fault will be 12231 "no ignition signal". With a non-starting engine, you can run the starter for a few seconds first, then check codes. If you still get 12231, then your ECU is not getting the tach signal.
Check grounds under radiator, near battery. I think one or more of these is related to the tach signal.
One thing to try... Run the fuelpump by jumpering fuses with a wire big enough to handle the current more than "momentarily". If the engine starts & runs OK, then that means you don't have other problems.
