no way to short-cut this operation, & it's a PITA! if your car has the Italian-made unit, you get ONE chance to extend its life. after removal, CAREFULLY bend straight the stakes holding the end cap on. upon removal of the cap, note how much CRAP is in it! that's due to being exposed to outside air & all the dirt& bugs, etc. I guess they thought it needed external air to cool it. this is what eats up Saab blowers! clean it out good, clean & lube both end bushings, ( hope the brushes ain't too ate up) motor oil OK for that.reassemble, using care when bending the stakes back not to bust 'em off. if you have the earlier type (I think it's a bosch unit), just unscrew the 2 screws on the end-cap & carry on. if your unit's junk, try to get the earlier one. (my '84 900T parts car had the old-style & I re-did it, threw it in my '89, 'cuz the Italian unit was roached from dirt exposure. you'll need to adapt your pwr. plug if going from old to new, or vice/ versa- just 4 stake- on lugs, & 6" of wire. I've successfully rejuvenated 3 blower motors this way, 'cuz I'm too cheap to replace if I can fix! good luck... Jerry
