which t-stat, 82C?
with car moving at 30+mph, ac off, gage should stay just below 1/2 way, say 40-45% green, even in 90F weather. no fans needed.
once in stop and go mode, or a long lite, hot weather, fans come on at 2/3 with oem 92C switch.
if this is not u, then rad i likely fouled.

fan switche options, and gage reading with new rad and t-stat:
92C 2/3 gage (oem part)
88C just above half (new to usa part)
85C 1/2 ( 3 pin 9k sitch)
82C just below 1/2 (popular band-aid for bad rad, runs fans a lot)
