Get the TRW ball joints. These are cast balljoints that Saab uses. Do not get the cheaper pressed steel balljoints. They are lousy.
The sway arm bushings are pressed into their metal holders. You will need to replace the complete part, holder and bushing. Usually, the sway arm bushings are the first bushings to go.
You should be careful here. Replacing all the suspension bushings is a big, big job. Removing the A-arms on the driver's side requires removal of the engine. You might want to reconsider what you will replace.
My recommendation would be to replace:
ball joints
sway bar bushings
shocks
Then see if it suits your brother's needs. The A-arm bushings usually look bad, but may not be failing at all.
Remember to get a good alignment after you do this work. That really makes the 900 feel great!
