Yo John
It may well be a vacuum leak.
Check the FAQ on idle and LH injection for a good read on how the systems work and what the problems could be.
The bad cat will cause low flow in the exhaust and that means heat will build up. This also will cause a performance problem.
This Idle issue seems to be a lean issue. An easy way to find a leak is to spray carb cleaner around the induction system and listen for a change in idle speed. The injectors can be replaced but I don't think they are bad from what you say.
check the NTC resistance to see if within specs. This sensor will enrich the mixture when the coolant if cold. If the device is not working the idle will be lean and be shake city. Inspect all vacuum line for leaks this will also cause shake idle problems.
