Maybe I'm in over my head here, but the job is too far along to drive the car.

I read Bentley and Townsend before doing Ball Joint Job. I'm going with the Townsend method and I'm stuck. Please help me.

I couldn't loosen the 32MM hub nut, my breaker bar just about snapped (well, the pivot point on it). So I took off the wheel, put in some spacers to take pressure off suspension, took off brake caliper, loosened the tie rod nut, and loosened the nut on the lower ball joint. I got it almost all the way off, then pulled the other 2 bolts out. I pulled the solid part of the ball joint out of the suspension arm and it's dangling. Now I'm stuck. Here are my 2 problems.

1. I can't remove tie rod nut. The damn thing just spins. I put a monkey wrench in to help hold it still, but no good. Now I've knicked up the smooth surface, and probably a little under the boot, too. Do I need new tie rod end? What can I do to budge that nut? It's got PB Blaster on it now.

2. Ball joint. The damn thing won't budge. It's frozen in. I've hammered a fork in there and nothing. I'm afraid to put a propane torch in there with the CV boot and all the other crap down there. Also, I can't spin the nut. It's wedged against the hub/whatever... What to do?

I'm off to get a haircut. We'll see how the PB blaster soaks in.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Randy
