Oh and your using a digital meter right? With the car running, Check the voltage at the alternator (big post to case) and compare it to the voltage across the battery terminals. A high voltage reading at the alternator can be a sign of bad diodes or loose connections inside the alternator. Bad diodes cause a ripple (AC) voltage that is filtered when you check at the battery.
Check from The positive (big post) of the alternator to the positive on the battery and from the alternator case to the negative battery post. You should see a few millivolts at most, Above 0.5 volts would have me looking for a bad connection.
Look real close at where the small wire on the alternator is crimped to the connector. A bad connection here will cause intermittant operation.
Green on the baCK OF the bulb is not good. Clean it with some sandpaper and clean the socket too.
