SAME PROBLEM!

I had that exact trouble in my 1991 900S 5 speed, it just shut off while i was sitting in traffic. I had a quarter tank of gas and it wouldnt restart. I had it towed home and it ran fine when i started it in my drive way. it only idled 4-5 min though. I began searching for a problem....my father and i thaught it was the coil so we replaced it and the car idled about 10 min...(coincidential it seems). I shut the car off and cleaned up. about 15 min later i took it for a test ride and it quit about a quarter mile outa my neighborhood with the same problem. Got pulled home with a tow strap by my dads suburban and worked on my car all weekend with a bently and saabnet to no avail, i then took it to an excelent excluisively saab shop in my area. They fixed it in one day by replacing the crankshaft position sensor. I didnt know exactly why this caused my problem. but it was logical when i considered what i learned from working on it over the weekend. I noticed that the electrical signal to the fuel injectors went from .4~.5 volts to ZERO immediatly BEFORE the enging quit. this makes sense because without a signal of top dead center the fuel injection system isnt going to function.
hope this works for you. keep me informed
