Re: 88 spg has some mods to it. For about 7 years that I've owned the car I upgraded and replaced alot of things.$8,000 worth. I,ve never been truly happy with the performance, dont get me wrong it was quick, but not as quick as it should have been with all the work done to it. Last week I switched out distributor, Ring seal was leaking, so I inserted a used one from a 9000, and retarded the timing substantualy. The car flys like never before. The timing is not set with a gun..but by driving and stopping and adjusting etc. The old one was set @16 deg. and I can tell by the position of the new one that it is much less than 16 deg. I dont know if its coincidence or that something is actually wrong. Hoses to apc selinoid are ok...knock sensor is fine,.....apc selinoid is ok,....turbo is adjusted 3 1/2 turns from alignment with rod and control arm. apc holds @ 1 - 4 mill. into red. no fludder. I just dont want to damage engine!. beat a 2001 mustange corbra on freeway. not by much but he couldnt pass me. So I dont know what the hell! Had head replaced 1 month ago..after it was replaced it ran like crap.....untill now! Does the head need time to seal itself? Just switched to 20 w 50 oil before this phenomenon..can't think of any thing else really. I always have had the group 6 apc box, 3.0 fuel reg. k & n filter, over sized air intake pipes, brand new timing chain, bosch red coil, new air mass meter new ign wires.! final question....when installing a distrubitor can the position of the rotor fit back in only in 1 direction.. lets say you pulled the old one out at 12:00 could the new one go in and the rotor position be 180 degrees oposite @ 6:00..? Thanx for listening!
