I can't remember for sure about older models, but I know the 16V motors have pre-heat ("anti-ice") coolant hoses going to the throttle body. These are fairly easy to see on the 900S, as they are connected directly to the heater hoses for the heater core. The turbos are less obvious because of more hoses in general, and the lower pre-heat hose is connected to a pipe that is integral with the crankcase vent hose (at the turbo inlet duct). No need to disable or bypass these hoses.
