Good morning on this oppressively hot and humid 4th of July in the nation's capital.....hope not too many people are working on their SAAB's outside today, like myself;)
I am trying to figger out what it is that might be the culprit in my power top's bad behavior. She will raise up and down about 2-5 times before blowing the ceramic fender-mounted fuse rather consistently. Being of the "throw parts at something till it's fixed" mentality when it comes to certain aspects of car maintenance and repair, I thought it would be real neat if someone could ID the fault as a common malady among ragtops - and offer a simple part replacement solution. All wiring is there, obviously since it does operate, it just blows fuses on a regular basis. I have tried searching keywords here, but have not found a thread to follow......
Perhaps the power motor under the rear seat is simply shot? I am no electrician, but I thought that could be it.....after a couple hundred thousand miles is the life of the motor pretty much toast? I am thinking it's simply top motor r&r time, so guys, if you can point me to a good vendor I will be quite happy.
Stay out of the heat today....if you can avoid it. If not, drink lotsa non-alcoholic /non-caffiene drinks today. Love, your Mom......
