Sell the body shop the parts for the cost they would fetch at a junkyard (call Goldwing Saab or Sweeney to find out prices). They have that value to you (your replacement cost) so the towing company should pay a fair price for them. They have insurance for these things (otherwise, they wouldn't be Turnpike towing contractors). I would also say the tow truck operator was not very well trained... he shouldn't have rammed your car into the back of his truck. I seriously doubt it was an equipment failure... more like human error.
If I ventured a guess, I'd say the ignition control module was the problem (sits on the left side engine bay "partition" in that neat space between the fender and the engine bay side). Those critters get corroded in the back (where they attach to a heat sink), and then overheat and die. You can crank the engine, but it will not start.
Well, soon everything will be fixed and you'll be on your way again. These things happen.
