Get rid of it??!?! 80K on a normally aspirated motor? You have a LONG way to go on that thing!!! Yeah, you have keep up with the normal maintenance, but it sure beats huge car payments (ask me how much I like my 9-3 lease payment!)
I bought my 1990 SPG at 99k, it's currently at about 114,500, and I'd drive it to California tomorrow.
Tranny oil is easy. There's an allen bolt you pop out, drain the old stuff into a pan, clean the magnetic bolt tip, put it back in (NOT too tight!) and fill 'er up with non-detergent 10W30. 10-15 minutes, 3 quarts of oil. If you're not set up in the garage, you'll need: ramps or jack&jackstands, oil catching pan ($5 at the discount auto parts store), 3 quarts of oil, 1 funnel, paper towels, and the allen wrench. I did the flush with normal 10W30 2 times & ran for 100 or so miles, then put in Honda MTF. Works GREAT now.
You can EASILY double the miles on that car. Some folks are hitting 250-300k on them.
