Debadging - Paint Question Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
So I got the badges off of the back of my 1994 C900TC Commemorative Edition tonight. I used a small jeweler's screwdriver, another small screwdriver, and thick paper to keep from scratching the paint. The car is metallic black (think dark charcoal color).
Once the badges were off I let the goo soak in Goo Gone and then started rubbing with a rag to no avail. I tried the screwdriver and f'ed up leaving a 1/8" scrape. Good thing I have touchup paint. Then I got a guitar pick... So, 45 minutes later (and a pile of Goo Gone) the car is debadged in back.
I have part of the word "turbo" ghosted into the paint. It looks like black paint, not charcoal gray. The color appears to be under the clear. I tried some polish, but no difference. I have a little of the letter "s" in SAAB with the same problem. What options do I have for this? Do you think it's under the clearcoat?
If I "rebadge", would the dealer or TSN Sponsors have fresh ones? My badges weren't in the best shape to begin with.
