It appears that I've resolved this.

Decided to quadruple-check the O2 sensor one more time and realized that I'd been checking for voltage at the harness end of the connector instead of the sensor. Doh! Found that instead of a steady low voltage I had no voltage at all.

That may not have been my real problem, however. Pulling tha AIC showed that it was gummed up with blown oil. Not much but enough to make it sticky. Cleaned it with carb cleaner, shot some more in the throttle body butterfly while I was in there, drove it a few miles to blow the cleaner clear before I started on the O2 sensor, and it behaved perfectly.

Did the O2 sensor anyway. Paid $48.00 for the Bosch 13913 at the FLAPS (could have had it from SobStory for $29.00 but I wanted it NOW). Used crimp-on butts and a big piece of heat shrink tube to connect the original harness. Made it a point to keep the complete harness the same length as the original, as mentioned on this list (ideally all resistances are roughly the same, then). Fought the urge to solder the connections as they use stainless wire.

Had no trouble removing the original, BTW. Put a 22mm end-wrench on it with the engine completely cold and it came free with only a medium-meaty push. Sorry, Monster.

I now get about .8VDC at the sensor and it jumps around nicely as I rev / cover the air intake / etc. No bogging, no check engine light, and I appear to be getting better mileage already (it's only been half a tank but so far I'm on track to get about an extra 40/50 miles a tank). The new part will pay for itself rapidly, then.

I appreciate everyone's input on this.
