While there is truth to the sayings that "current kills," and "voltage shocks," you need sufficient voltage to drive the current through the resistance of the body. To kill a person, the threshold current is just over 1 amp and to drive that through a human takes +/- 100 volts with wet hands and much more with dry hands (guess>220). Also the current should go through the heart, so a shock to one hand/finger won't kill. e.g. finger in light socket OK, wet finger in light socket with other hand holding a faucet very bad.
